Daniele Vickers – Simulacra

Oct 13, 2016 - Americo Gariety

Images. Representations. Daniele Vickers' Simulacra lives in a quiet and somber tension that seeks to identify and examine relationships between "what is perceived to be real and what is perceived to reference reality via a photograph." Daniele cuts, burns, crumbles, and even takes out the trash in her representation of her found photographs as she plays with their relationships to "real" objects in "real" space. The images are layered on top of one another in their meta-examination of the act of "seeing" and how "seeing" informs our perception of what is true. Daniele is currently pursuing her MFA in Photography at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
