Artist Blog

Every week an artist whose single image was published by Der Greif is given a platform in which to blog about contemporary photography.

My image making

Nov 01, 2021 - Stefano Conti

The images in the series ‘When I killed your tulips’ are made from overlapped paper cut outs, created from analogue photographs that I print out and re-arrange with other materials in a constant attempt to explore new visual spaces.
Clues within the images suggest the presence of a studio setting and expose the process of making. This expresses my interest not only for what is placed in front of the camera, but also what lies beyond it and just to the side of the frame. Using playfulness as a tool, I want to investigate photography and its representation, prompting the viewers to question what they are looking at.
