Alan Knox (1985) is a Scottish photographer living in London. Since graduating from the Glasgow School of Art in 2015 where he was the recipient of the Chairman’s Medal, his work has been exhibited in group shows in London, Edinburgh, Kaunas and the British Council Gallery, New Dheli. Universal Sympathy, his 2015 project exploring the relationship between life, death and the cosmos has been exhibited as part of numerous group shows including 5 Under 30 at the Daniel Blau Gallery as well as the Jill Todd Photo Award exhibition at Stills Gallery, Edinburgh. Previously his practice has been featured by the British Journal of Photography, GUP, Fotografia, Creative Review, Source Graduate Review and BBC News. His work frequently explores the nature of the photograph as a sublime object in which universal truths not immediately evident to the naked eye may be revealed. In 2016 he was named as a winner of the Magenta Foundation Flash Forward Awards and in December will be featured in the exhibition Tabula Rasa at Street Level Photoworks, Glasgow, an exhibition originally shown at Kaunas Gallery, Lithuania.
