Andreas Tschersich


1971 born in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, lives and works in Berlin. Solo show ›This Land is My Land‹ in 2004 and Brussels residency in 2005, then part of different group shows, such as the Aeschlimann & Corti Scholarship and different collection exhibitions, due to acquisitions by the City of Biel/Bienne and the Canton of Berne. In 2011 winner of the Photo Prize and Travel scholarship of the Canton of Berne. Invited to the group show ›Light Sensitive – Photo Art from the Collection‹ at Aargauer Kunsthaus in 2012 including artist talk with curators Thomas Schmutz and Thomas Seelig. In 2016 art collection Migros Aare acquired four works, permanently exhibited at Welle7, Berne and the book ›peripher‹ was published by Edition Patrick Frey, Zurich. In 2017 selected for the Discovery Award, Encontros da Imagem, Braga. Part of photobook shows at Festivals in Athens, Los Angeles and Singapore. Part of the group show ›Civilization: The Way We Live Now‹ curated by William A. Ewing and Holly Roussell with works by Olivo Barbieri, Edward Burtynsky, Mitch Epstein, Lee Friedlander, Nadav Kander, Robert Polidori, Taryn Simon and Thomas Struth among others. Opened at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), Seoul, it will travel to the UCCA, Beijing and the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne in 2019. Besides more venues to be announced, it will be shown at the MUCEM, Marseille in 2021. An accompanying catalogue is published by Thames & Hudson, London.
