Maria Soroniati


Maria Soroniati (b.1991) is a Greek visual artist. Having graduated from Glasgow School of Art (GSA -2020), she lives and works between Glasgow and Rhodes. Her preferred mediums are photography, poetry and sculpture. Her field of interest is situated in the exploration of the dialectics between individual stories and the collective experience. She is particularly interested in the analysis and visual representation of trauma, as it can be encountered either in the private or collective sphere. Her work is informed from literature, history, psychology and politics. She had been shortlisted for Athens Photo Festival 2020 and has received a special mention at "Urbanautica 2021 Awards". She has participated in group exhibitions in Great Britain (Glasgow – CCA, Cambridge – A.R.B at Cambridge University, London – Truman Brewery etc.), Netherlands, France and USA. Additionally, as a GSA graduate, her work has been featured on “the Scotsman” in Scotland and on the digital newspaper “The Paper” for the International Expo “Art and Design Education: Future Lab Shanghai”.
