Maxime Michelet

Born in 1994 in the South-West of France, Maxime Michelet is a self-taught film photographer who focuses on territorial narratives. He chooses to approach contemporary issues such as masculinity, mobility or colonialism through stereotypical, sometimes exaggerated, staged recreations of mundane scenes. He is interested in offering a new glance over aesthetics that have been instrumental in shaping his eye : queer , southern French, and working class aesthetics. His work has been exhibited on several occasions in France and South Africa, and featured in national as well as international media. He has been selected to be one of Agence VU's mentoree for the year to come, and will be exhibiting a series on siblinghood in 2022.
