Valerie Schmidt


Valerie Schmidt is a photographer, whose has specialised her work on the investigation of the affective logic of human emotional behaviour. Her last works are focused on the photographical invention of hyste-ria, the sculptural moment of falling and balance and on the topic of hypnosis.

Her work has been shown in many exhibitions in Europe and in the United States and is part of Deutsche Bank Collection, Frankfurt, the Folkwang Museum, Essen, the Contemporary Art Museum, Budapest, Hungary and the Birthrites Collection, Manchester.

She is based in Berlin and also works as an associate professor for photography at the Hochschule Rhein-Waal in Kamp-Lintfort.
